    Department Overview

    The accounting groups are responsible for the accounting and reporting functions of the company. Related’s accounting team is responsible for the accounting and internal/external reporting for Related Companies’ corporate entities, residential and commercial stabilized assets and for projects under development. The various teams have the responsibility for AAP, cash and tax accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, and cash management.

    Responsibilities

    The Accounting Intern will be working closely with members of the Accounting Department in the performance of day to day activities and special projects associated with activities and transactions accounted for by the Accounting team.

    • Work with Senior Accountants and Controllers on day-to-day accounting and the preparation of quarterly financial reporting
    • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial statements and materials for Audit Committee/Board of Directors meetings
    • Assist the financial reporting team with the creation of a data repository to facilitate responses to lender requests
    • Assist with enhancing the documentation of accounting policies and procedures

    Qualifications

    Intern should be a rising junior or senior with the following skills:

    • Degree in Accounting or other relevant field
    • Understanding of basic accounting principles
    • Proficiency with standard suite of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
    • Excellent written and communication skills
    • Strong analytical ability
    • Mature professional with sound judgement and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to details

    During the internship, students must be authorized to work full time and without restriction in the United States.
