    The Director of Payroll for the Related Companies will work closely with the Vice President, Corporate Controller and oversee all aspects of payroll, including weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing and monthly payroll cost allocations. The Director of Payroll will lead a team of six, including four payroll administrators and two data analysts specializing in payroll cost allocations. This is a key leadership role on the finance and accounting team with very dynamic demands and responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style that responds quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines. This position will be based in New York.


    • Manage a team of four payroll administrators and two data analysts specializing in cost allocations
    • Manage all aspects of payroll processing for the company, including processing pay, benefits and overhead through eleven separate payroll companies on a weekly and bi-weekly basis.
    • Manage the monthly re-allocation of pay, benefits and overhead costs to various projects and initiatives across the company.
    • Work with company executives to report on payroll cost allocations, including overseeing monthly standard and ad hoc reporting from the payroll data analyst team.
    • Work closely with the Compensation & Benefits, HRIS and Accounting teams to ensure accuracy in the processing of benefit billing throughout the payroll cycle.
    • Oversee quarterly wage and tax reports in support of 941 reporting and annually for the preparation of W-2’s for all employees.
    • Manage the monthly reconciliation of six payroll cash accounts working closely with the accounting team.
    • Oversee the payroll Helpdesk, an online based customer service application utilized to address and resolve employee inquiries regarding pay.
    • Support the accounting and finance leads on special projects and ad hoc requests.


    • Must have 10+ years working in a payroll capacity.
    • Minimum of 5+ years within a supervisory capacity.
    • Experience with a major Payroll and ERP system required (Ultimate preferred).
    • Must have demonstrated payroll processing experience managing at least 3,000 employees
    • Ideal candidate will have experience in payroll cost allocations
    • Clear communicator with ability to interact with senior leaders.
    • Superior organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations relating to payroll
    • Strong Excel skills
    • Knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software, a plus.
    • Certified Payroll Professional, a plus
    • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance, Master’s Degree a plus.
