    Role Summary:

    The Director of Compliance, under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Director of Compliance, is responsible for ensuring compliance in affordable housing programs within Related Beal’s portfolio. Knowledge of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), HUD HOME, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), Tax Exempt Bond programs.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Execute front line functions at Related's affordable communities reviewing initial move-in / first year resident, as well as ongoing recertification files to ensure compliance with federal, state and city regulatory program requirements as well as Fair Housing regulations
    • Participate in preparation of Low Income Housing Tax Credit / Management Occupancy Review's / Agency and partnership reviews
    • Assist Development Team in preparation of preliminary data gathering for potential deals
    • Partnering with public agencies, consultants, and industry experts to strengthen the goals of the company’s affordable housing program
    • Engaging with public agencies and industry experts to identify standards and best practices
    • Train new team members in compliance functions
    • Review LIHTC monthly, quarterly and annual owner certifications, as well as examine tenant files in preparation for LIHTC file audits, Management Occupancy Reviews (MOR) and review responses corresponding to agency audits
    • Respond to inquiries regarding various affordable housing inquiries or appeals
    • Stay current with Federal, state and local updates about to various program requirements
    • Prepare and update Compliance Narratives to summarize regulatory as well as state, city and local requirements for properties
    • Assist in preparing and submitting Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing Plans, Tenant Selection Plans, and lease packages, etc.
    • Review contracts to ensure compliance with Company’s policies
    • Monitor legal cases
    • Design staff training protocols and materials in collaboration with supervisor and internal staff members
    • Ensure affordable housing occupancy rates are minimal

    • TaCCs or COS required
    • Knowledge Yardi preferred
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Bachelor’s degree required, JD preferred
    • Familiarity with BFH, DHCD and other Massachusetts and Boston agencies
    • Detail oriented, organized and strong analytical skills. Creativity and initiative to work both independently as well as within a team while able to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment.
