Role Summary


Related/Hudson Yards is seeking an individual experienced in the design, deployment, and operation of integrated campus/building monitoring and control systems and software. This is a technical position which will require significant experience with application integrations in an Enterprise Service Bus environment as well as hands-on experience with modern commercial building systems.


Key Responsibilities


Reporting to the CTO, this role will interact heavily with internal and vendor teams responsible for the integration of disparate systems via an enterprise service bus architecture.  This role will hold primary responsibility for communication with vendor software developers, systems integrators, and business owners utilizing technology solutions. This role will hold primary responsibility for overseeing the continued operations of building management systems and devices (HVAC/Energy, Elevators, Life Safety Systems, Turnstiles, etc.)


Key Role Skill Set


Key skills and background required:

  • 4+ years of experience working in a building systems operations environment, including traditional BMS systems as well as emerging IP based technologies
  • 2+ years of experience in a software development environment
  • 2+ years of experience with IP based building devices and general IoT hardware
  • AWS architecture and implementation experience
  • Experience and comfort with stakeholder management and communications at the senior management level
  • Technology management experience, including building, motivating, and optimizing teams
  • Familiarity with PMO best practices and ability to interface with Project Management resources
  • Proven ability to effectively work with team members and business stakeholders across diverse roles and experience levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong diagramming and documentation skills
  • Experience with hybrid on-premise/cloud solutions
  • Strong foundation in information security and production resiliency principles and practices


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Hands-on design and development experience with JVM based technologies such as Java and/or Scala
  • Application integration via APIs/SDK toolsets
  • Experience in a Mulesoft enterprise service bus environment
  • API design and specification with RAML and/or Swagger
  • Experience with IoT architectures and device integrations
  • Strong data architecture and/or data science skills


Education and Professional Qualifications

  • BS/BA Degree from an accredited University
  • The successful candidate will also be comfortable working in a matrixed environment and will display a proactive approach to problem solving.  A creative mind, excellent interpersonal skills, and sense of humor are a must for this position!
