Related Management has a rare opportunity for a qualified District Manager. The multi-site portfolio is located in Brooklyn and the greater New York City Area. An ideal candidate must be a dynamic professional with a proven history of results, including asset preservation, budget performance, industry compliance, and effective communication and leadership skills. The District Manager interfaces with ownership and senior leadership to direct the performance of their assigned assets.  He/she is responsible for practicing, disseminating to front-line supervisors and consistently reinforcing the Related Management philosophy and process of respect-based property and personnel management to achieve the owners’ objectives for the property assets.

The District Manager reports to the Senior Vice President or Vice President and is responsible for the oversight of all sites within the region to assure appropriate standards of site performance and proper administration in compliance with all company policies and procedures and all applicable Equal Employment Opportunity, Fair Housing and Human Rights statutes.

The District Manager’s tasks include, but are not, limited to the following:



  1. Exercises cost control by approving monthly budget variance reports, invoices and expenses. 
  2. Assures financial statement accuracy.  Submits monthly financial change forms.
  3. Maintains appropriate governmental interface.
  4. Assures compliance with all regulatory and statutory programs.
  5. Submits annual budget; provides feedback and commentary before submission to ownership and ensures ownership goals are met. 
  6. Compares managed properties to others within the portfolio to understand desired results and to improve financial performance.



  1. Works directly with Vice President to ensure site marketing strategy is effective and contributes to meeting ownership goals. 
  2. Works directly with Vice President and brokers for pricing of base rents in region and to ensure respective teams are meeting goals.  
  3. Responsible for income optimization and recommendation for ancillary income opportunities including cellular towers, cable partnerships, and the like.
  4. Completes regular competitive shopping reports and informs Vice President of major strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. 


Resident Relations/Service

  1. Fosters and ensures excellent resident relations.
  2. Ensures service expectations are met at all sites by thoroughly reviewing and analyzing work order requests and ensuring follow up.



  1. Hires and maintains appropriate staff at all sites.
  2. Ensures adherence to Related Management and regulatory/statutory requirements in the employment process.
  3. Supervises/coaches/establishes performance expectations for/and progressively disciplines staff according to Related Management policies/procedures and expectations.
  4. Ensures staff development and employee engagement remain paramount goals for site leadership. 


Regional Operation

  1. Assures accurate, consistent regional administrative processes.
  2. Assures regional compliance with all licensing requirements and Related Management procedural requirements.
  3. Encourages and ensures appropriate interface with support services. 


Site Control

  1. Implements and maintains effective site control programs.
  2. Assures adherence to all insurance requirements.
  3. Implements and maintains appropriate/effective security programs.
  4. Implements and maintains appropriate/effective safety programs.
  5. Participates in weekly site walks with Field Manager.



  1. Oversees the maintenance of building standards at all sites.
  2. Assures completion of significant repairs and improvements throughout the sites.
  3. Assures consistent curb appeal at all sites.
  4. Oversees RFP process for strategic maintenance contracts to leverage pricing for sites in the portfolio.


Knowledge and Skills

  1. Knowledge of Brooklyn, New York rental market
  2. Knowledge of building systems
  3. Strong leadership, supervisory and organizational skills.
  4. Ability to multi-task and broaden the picture of goals.
  5. Ability to communicate at all levels with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Driven to keep programs and standards in place on an ongoing basis.
  7. Desired results through proven management skills.
  8. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  9. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team of professionals.
  10. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Yardi.
  11. Customer service driven.
  12. Experience in budget monitoring and control helpful.
  13. Must possess as 4-year college degree from an accredited institution.
  14. Knowledge in rent stabilized properties a plus.

Working Conditions

  1. Must be willing to work various schedules.
  2. Ability to answer emergency calls, as required, in the evening hours, weekends and on holidays.
  3. Travel is expected up to 70% of the time.

Pay: $85,000-$95,000 DOE
