Architecture Project Manager primarily assists in managing third-party design efforts supporting Related’s Residential Development team in close collaboration with the Real Estate Development and Construction teams under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager or Department Head.


The Architecture Project Manager shall work with the Senior Project Manager on all aspects of the design process; focused on the coordination of consultants’ work beginning at the planning and entitlement phase and continuing through construction.


Key Responsibilities

Design and Planning

  • Close collaboration with leasing and marketing group so that the sales/leasing objectives are achieved through design
  • Close collaboration with Building Management group so that all supporting spaces and requirements are achieved through design
  • Close collaboration with Construction to ensure budget and quality execution objectives are achieved
  • Knowledge of building systems
  • Monitor the production of design drawings to ensure all relevant construction information is included
  • Coordinate presentations such that the extended team is informed throughout the design progress
  • Monitor and document critical design decisions to ensure they are consistent with project goals and delivered in a timely manner.


  • Review and comment on all deliverables
  • Assist in managing the consultant’s budgets and discern the need and request additional scope work


  • Develop and maintain deliverable schedules
  • Collaborate closely with other Related groups so that documents are delivered and evaluated within the timelines established
  • Identify and maintain any timelines that are related to the Department of Building or any other government agency


  • Attend periodic coordination meetings involving related consultants so that information is shared and dialogue is consistent


  • Knowledge of construction sequencing, materials and methods
  • Provide support to clarify scope during bidding
  • Attend meetings with construction trades to clarify and/or direct any in-field design decision.



Key Role Skill Set

  • Knowledge of City of Chicago Zoning, Building and Accessibility Codes
  • Knowledge of enclosure, MEP systems
  • Construction/field experience
  • Exceptional organization and communications skills – written and verbal
  • Highly collaborative
  • Strong project management skills


  • Degree in Architecture
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience including mid-rise or high rise construction
  • Preferably licensed
